Newborn Photography Training & Mentoring
I love baby photography! I do so much that several years ago I also ventured into newborn photography training and mentoring. So when I’m not in my photography studio here in Dorset photographing my clients, I’m usually working as a professional newborn photography trainer.
Teaching aspiring newborn photographers all aspects of the newborn photography industry gives me such a buzz. Passing on my hard earnt knowledge in a bespoke training session tailored to suit your aims.
You will learn everything that you need to know to develop a successful newborn photography business of your own. I offer private one-to-one training at my studio in Poole, Dorset.
I am passionate about helping photographers learn the art of newborn posing and photography safely. I myself have trained with some of the industry’s best. Training with newborn photographers from across the globe, Kelly Brown from Little Pieces Photography. Cass Vanhorn of Noelle Mirabella Photography. Both these ladies are an inspiration and at the very top of their photography careers. I’ve also completed 8 years of mentoring with lighting guru Damian McGillicudy. I count top photography trainers like Gary Hill and Nina Mace amongst my friends.
What can I do for you?
Book a 1-2-1 session and I will show you how to make the very most from your newborn photography sessions. Even if the baby is unsettled! With well over 1000 babies under my belt, there’s not much that I haven’t come across. We will go through the basic setups and poses you’ll need to create magic for your own clients.
I will take you through my newborn posing process step by step. Everything, including how to pose babies, where to position the light, and the best camera angles. Editing can also be included as part of the 1-2-1, just let me know if this is something you’d like to cover.
Safety is paramount with handling babies. That is a priority for any newborn photographer, newborn photography training is a must.

Testimonials
Victoria Mackenzie: “I have done both a 2-2-1 and 1-2-1 with Karen and both have been fantastic. She really sets out to teach you the specific areas you want to concentrate on and does so with a relaxed and professional manner. The information I have taken from both courses has been invaluable and I have gone home feeling newly inspired. I cannot recommend Karen enough.”
Emily Bishop: “I can honestly say that I learnt so much in one day. Karen took me through every step from setting up my camera, adjusting lighting, getting the baby to sleep and safety when posing. Karen talked about so many different experiences you could come up against with newborns and I really felt like she was trying to give me as much knowledge as she could in the short time we had. It has been an amazing experience; one that I will never forget and I have come away feeling so positive and excited for the future.”
