Its a damp, dull day here at KW Photography HQ and that means it's a perfect day to be getting down to my editing.
I get asked all the time how I edit and recently I posted a bump photo of a lady in a stunning purple dress from Mii-Estilo which attracted lots of attention not only because we had a beautiful Maternity model but also the colour of the maternity dress was no longer purple. I have a selection of Maternity dresses in the studio in assorts of colours and styles but sometimes i use a little editing trickery to get the perfect photo for my lovely pregnant clients.
Wild heather pregnancy photoshootStunning locations here in Dorset for maternity photos Above is the gorgeous maternity dress in all its purple magnificence, its simply stunning against the heather backdrop and i love the luxury of the shape and colour. In the studio however I wanted to mute the colour a little and show just how versatile it really is to use for any pregnancy photo session.
I've put together a short video of how i edited the maternity image to suit the colours i wanted , I love photoshop and I also love lightroom and use both all the time. Lots of people just use lightroom as a workflow file storage tool but I love how you can really quickly edit the majority of the photo in lightroom if you want to . For this bump photoshoot , it was so easy to change the colour of the maternity dress without opening photoshop at all. I know I can alter the colour in photoshop as well but I just find it simple, quick and easy in Lightroom. Watch the video and find out just how easy it is, i promise its not too long! Hope you enjoyed the video , I would love to see your comments especially if you have an easier way of doing the colour change or have found my short editing video helpful, maybe even a lightbulb moment?
Heres the finished pregnancy photo, please pop over to my maternity gallery if you fancy bump photoshoot or get in touch if you are a photographer looking to learn more secrets.
